My wedding dress shopping experience, although filled with excitement and joy, was disheartening at first. After looking through countless magazines and online galleries, only a handful of dresses had turned up that I thought could be a possible fit. The majority I found were too theatrical, too embellished, too princess-y. Not quite right.

Our wedding was set to take place in a historic chapel that served as a Seminary for many years and has an old-world décor and feel. Although I was seeking a dress that would fit my personality, I also wanted something that wouldn't look starkly out of place in such a traditional setting.

With my mom in tow, we began the hunt in person. Starting the search in my city, Chicago, and back in Michigan, where my parents live and the wedding location was set to take place, we covered a lot of ground. But while some dresses were pretty or could "work", none felt like a match. Although I couldn't describe it exactly, I knew the words: Classy but Stylish, Simple but Special, Not Flashy but Unforgettable.

Finally, I realized that the select few dresses that I had found that were my favorites were styles all available at Priscilla of Boston in the suburbs of IL. It was time to pay PofB a visit.

And of course, after months of "the search", we instantly found my dress, in the matter of time it took to zip up the back. And oh my goodness, did we ever find it. Melissa Sweet's Liliana was a vision. With the slight trumpet shape, darling ruffled sweetheart neckline and bottom. But the back was what captivated me. The hint of drama was in that stunning flounced train. It was an absolute joy to slide that dress on during my special day (and oddly enough, very comfortable!). And now, reflecting back by looking at pictures and videos, I realize how delighted and grateful I am to have found such a perfect dress for my perfect day. Thank you for your fabulous selection and wonderful service!
